Pat on the Back

Deepwater Champion and Crew

Transocean’s new ultra-deepwater drillship Deepwater Champion was completed earlier this year and moved to the Black Sea where the dual-activity derrick had to be removed to transit the Bosphorus Strait and be reinstalled before starting operations. The DWC completed its first well (Kastamonu-1) for ExxonMobil with only 2.1% downtime, a 92.5% Service Quality rating, and 0.00 Total Recordable Incident Rate.

The DWC has been recognized as one of the most successful startups in the fleet. We thank the DWC crew, which represents 21 nationalities,  for their commitment to achieving our vision.
