To raise awareness and funds for Parkinson’s Disease, two brothers embarked on a 3,000-mile rowing challenge across the Atlantic in January – an idea that became a reality with the support of the team on the Transocean Prospect.

In early 2010, the Prospect launched their annual Fitness Challenge with a goal for teams to match in kilometers the distance these men planned to take on using bikes, treadmills, rowing machines, pedometers or cross trainers between February and April.

Participants dove (or ran, or power-walked, or rowed) into the competition, and the gym became a very busy place. The 8,000 total kilometers achieved far surpassed the initial goal of 3,000 kilometers, and several individuals posted some impressive personal totals.

In addition to weight loss and other health benefits associated with the competition, customer Nexen generously donated £3,000 to the Parkinson’s Atlantic Rowing Challenge (http://parkinsonsoceanchallenge.co.uk/) in recognition of the crew’s successful completion of their 2010 Fitness Challenge.
