When a hull preservation survey needs to be completed, Tony and his team of eight inspectors are on the case with a “can do” attitude – and always go above and beyond what’s expected of them. In addition to their work on the surveys, Tony and his team frequently complete high-quality START cards with observations that lead to improvements on the rig, and Tony never fails to take additional time while he’s onboard to use his 17 years of experience with the company to help boost crew members’ awareness of confined space entry requirements.

“Tony and the team clearly demonstrate knowledge, professionalism and visible safety leadership every time they step on a Transocean rig,” said Keelan Adamson, VP, Engineering and Technical Support. “We are excited and proud to have this talented group of proven leaders on our team.”

Hull Preservation Surveys are completed every five years, or a minimum of 18 months prior to a major out-of-service period, on all Transocean rigs. The results of these surveys give Transocean management a comprehensive and fair evaluation of the condition of the rig and its equipment. This evaluation is used for information for asset plans, project work scopes, as well as maintenance planning, budgeting and system improvements. By the end of 2010, Transocean expected to complete 31 surveys.

Tony began his career with Transocean in 1993, working offshore as a Welder aboard various rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. He joined the shore-based team in 2000 as a staff engineer and has held positions of increasing authority, including field engineer, repair and overhaul superintendent and project manager.

Tony, thank you for your continued commitment to safety and excellence at Transocean!
