Transocean Radio Operator Promotes Cancer Awareness in India

Joseph A. Vaz, Radio Operator, Ron Tappmeyer, was recognized by an Indian-based non-profit for his effort in organizing a breast cancer awareness and screening session in Kandivli, Mumbai.

A representative from Helping Hand 4 Cancer Care, the organization that helped facilitate the cancer screening, wrote a thank you letter to Joseph inviting him to become a “part of the Helping Hand family who shares the vision of spreading awareness and providing facilities for early diagnosis of breast cancer, because of the contribution he’s making towards cancer prevention.”

Joseph organized the breast cancer screening during his time off of the rig. Joseph’s selfless effort to support breast cancer awareness and prevention is one that is appreciated not only by those who benefit from the screenings, but recognized by others who share the same goal. “We express our heartfelt gratitude to the effort you have put in towards fostering our cause,” wrote a manager at Helping Hand 4 Cancer Care.

Thank you, Joseph for making an impact in your community and helping such a great cause.
