Harvey H. Ward Sets World Record

Richard Leitch, Pertamina’s offshore representative, presented the plaque and congratulations to OIM Bernard Washer and HHW Team.

Earlier this year, Harvey H. Ward (HHW) set a world record for the longest level two casing drilling intervals with 20” casing. The 20” casing operation took a total of 28 hours, which included rigging up, the drilling operation, landing the casing, cementing the casing and rigging down the casing handling gear.

The HHW is currently working in the Java Sea off the coast of Surabaya, Indonesia. Our customer, Pertamina Hulu Energi West Madura Offshore, is a subsidiary of Indonesia’s National Oil Company. The formations in the environment are unconsolidated, which increase vulnerability to lost circulation and stuck pipe issues. One of Pertamina’s innovative solutions has been the implementation of drilling with casing, which has proven very successful in alleviating stuck pipe issues: improving operational efficiency and minimizing the overall cost per foot.

Our vision and strategy include being our customer’s trusted partner. The HHW team has lived the vision by applying its talent in delivering a world-class result and in the process has become the trusted partner of the Indonesian national oil companies.  Congratulations, Harvey H. Ward Team, on achieving success through planning and consistent execution, and ensuring safety and operational excellence.
